Charity Commissioner Nomination Welcomed

The Independent Schools Council of Australia (ISCA) has today welcomed the Federal Government’s announcement that Ms Susan Pascoe AM will be nominated to become the first Commissioner of the new Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

Mr Barry Wallett, Deputy Executive Director of ISCA, said that Ms Pascoe has shown a willingness to listen to the concerns of independent schools and considerable progress has been made in addressing some of the implications of the proposed reforms.

“More than 1,000 independent schools receiving recurrent funding from Governments are not-for-profit institutions and will be covered by the new ACNC legislative arrangements,” Mr Wallett said.
