ISA Submission – First Nations Education Policy

30 January 2026

In this submission, Independent Schools Australia (ISA) calls for positive progress beyond symbolism to empower teachers, schools, and communities with the practical tools, relationships, and sustained investment needed for meaningful change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. ISA recognises high quality, curriculum aligned resources, co developed with First Nations people as essential to help teachers confidently embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and languages into everyday practice.

ISA prepared this submission in response to the Australian Government’s First Nations Education Policy Discussion Paper, in consultation with the member state and territory Associations of Independent Schools.
