This submission was prepared by ISA in response to the Senate Standing Committee on Education and Employment Legislation’s inquiry into the provisions of the free TAFE Bill 2024.
Independent Schools Australia’s position is that while the Free TAFE Bill 2024 may improve access to some vocational education courses, for some students, not enough has been done to assess whether the Bill’s scope is comprehensive enough to achieve its intended goals. A thorough evaluation of current arrangements, transparency in communication about costs, and a student-centric support model is needed to support the development of a more effective and equitable VET system in Australia.
