This submission was provided by Independent Schools Australia (ISA) to the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, concerning the National Youth Mental Health Models of Care. The submission considers the early advice from the Models of Care Consortium led by Orygen.
ISA’s Submission strongly advocates that any recommendations which call for further school-based initiatives or interventions need to be supported by an appropriate level of access to mental health services. This would require additional investment from government and a national workforce strategy to increase the number of mental health professionals available to work with schools.
