Media release: Non-Government schools impacted by floods receive additional funding

23 March 2022

The Australian Government has provided an additional $5 million to support flood affected Independent and Catholic schools in NSW and Queensland.

“A devasting number of our students and families have lost everything. Receiving financial support to replace things like uniforms and books will take some of the pressure off parents as they work to rebuild,” said Margery Evans, Chief Executive Officer of Independent Schools
Australia.

“We are very pleased the Australian Government has recognised the critical role schools play and has prioritised support for education.”

Funds will be dispersed to schools as quickly as possible so the benefit is felt by families in a timely way.

ISA is the peak body representing 1,187 Independent schools with 667,259 enrolled students.
